Currents Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using the Currents mobile application and our websites (together, "the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you disagree with any part of the Terms, you may not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

Currents is a social dive logging app that lets you record dives, manage certifications, explore dive locations, and connect with other divers. We also operate public websites, including trycurrents.app, that display selected public content.

3. User Accounts

3.1. You must create an account to use certain features. You are responsible for keeping your account and password confidential.

3.2. You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information and to keep it up to date.

4. User Content

4.1. You keep all rights to your content. You choose who can see it through the app's sharing settings.

4.2. Public licence. For content you mark "Everyone", you grant Currents a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive licence to host, store, reproduce, display, and create aggregate or derived works from that content, on the Currents app and on our public websites, for as long as you keep it marked "Everyone". This lets us build public dive-site pages that combine data from many divers.

4.3. This licence covers the dive reviews you write and structured dive data such as depth, duration, water temperature, and date, shown on its own or combined into site-level aggregates such as the typical depth across many logged dives at a site.

4.4. Your free-text dive notes and your precise entry and exit GPS coordinates are never shown on our public websites. Public site pages use the dive site's own location, not your personal entry point.

4.5. Content you mark "Only You" or "Followers" is never shown on our public websites. If you change content to a more private setting or delete it, we stop displaying it publicly.

4.6. We will not sell your content, license it to third parties, or use it in advertising without your separate, explicit consent. This licence exists only to run and improve Currents and its public dive-site pages.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use the Service to:

• Post or transmit any content that is unlawful, harmful, threatening, abusive, harassing, defamatory, vulgar, obscene, or invasive of another's privacy.
• Impersonate any person or entity or misrepresent your affiliation with a person or entity.
• Interfere with or disrupt the Service or the servers or networks connected to it.

6. Intellectual Property

The Service and its original content, features, and functionality are owned by Currents and protected by international copyright, trademark, patent, trade secret, and other intellectual property laws. Some catalogue data is provided by third parties under their own licences, as credited on our website.

7. Currents Pro, Subscriptions and Purchases

7.1. Currents offers optional paid features under "Currents Pro", available as an auto-renewing subscription and, where offered, a one-time lifetime purchase.

7.2. Billing through Apple. All purchases are processed by Apple through your App Store account. We do not receive or store your payment card details.

7.3. Auto-renewal. Subscriptions renew automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends. Apple charges the renewal within 24 hours before the period ends. You can manage or cancel a subscription in your Apple ID settings.

7.4. Lifetime purchase. A lifetime purchase is a one-time payment that grants access to the Pro features included at the time of purchase, with no recurring charge, for as long as the app remains available.

7.5. Refunds. Purchases are made through Apple and are subject to Apple's refund policy. Refund requests are handled by Apple, not Currents.

7.6. Changes to Pro. We may change Pro pricing or which features are included. Changes do not affect a subscription period you have already paid for, and existing lifetime purchasers keep access to the features included at their time of purchase.

8. Termination

We may terminate or suspend your account and access to the Service immediately, without prior notice or liability, at our sole discretion, for any reason, including a breach of these Terms.

9. Limitation of Liability

Currents is provided by an individual developer. While we strive to offer a reliable and secure service, we cannot guarantee that it will always function without disruption, delay, or imperfection. Your use of the Service is at your own risk.

10. Disclaimer

Your use of the Service is at your sole risk. The Service is provided on an "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" basis, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. Currents is a logging and social tool, not a substitute for proper dive training, planning, or a dive computer.

11. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.

12. Changes to Terms

We may modify or replace these Terms at any time. We will provide notice of any significant changes by posting the new Terms on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the Service after such changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
